Why You Shouldn't Wait to Lose that Extra (Insert Meaningless Number Here) pounds
I have written before that I am a size 14. I am thick, curvy, fat and yes fucking Fabulous! Feeling sexy is not about a target weight or a certain body shape, it's an attitude we project everyday. Of course, I wake up some mornings with wild hair and think, "How can I preach body positivity when I look like poop?!" How can I? I remind myself that I don't look like poop. And neither do you! And here's a hard truth: A lot of us will never lose that meaning number of pounds. We will not get back to our high school weight. We will not work out for an hour everyday for a million days straight. Because we are busy being awesome! Awesome at our jobs, awesome moms, awesome women! Isn't that enough? It should be. You deserve to believe in your badassery and see your sexy side. The biggest part of that is making the decision to stop body-bashing and adopt a body positive attitude. It isn't always easy to stay positive. Everyone has bad body days. I'm sure Sophia Vegara wakes up every once in a while and says in her way-too-sexy-for-life accent, "Aiee. I look like sheeeeeit." But then her makeup artist shows up and fixes all that.
Unless you are already super-famous, you don't have a team of people to make you look your best every day. But you can choose to feel your best every day. And you can celebrate the perfect body for you, the body you have right now. That's what I do; I help women see their unique beauty and sexiness. A glamour or boudoir portrait relies on makeup, lighting and poses, yes, but the real magic comes from badass women like YOU!
You don't have to earn it--you deserve it already! So today and everyday I hope you stand in front of the mirror and see that you are beautiful, extra pounds and all.
